Community Involvement

DreamGirls Fine Hair Imports and Salon believes in giving back to the communities we serve and to the world. As an ongoing effort, we search for worthy causes to support and give to. Hopefully, our contribution will help make a difference in the lives of those that are less fortunate.

Prom Makeover Contest

During prom season, DreamGirls Fine Hair Imports & Salon holds an online contest in search of two very deserving high school seniors to win a makeover (valued at $1,000 each). One winner is selected for each salon location. The lucky winners get their hair and makeup done by a professional hair stylist and makeup artist.

Kids of Kilimanjaro

Kids of Kilimanjaro was founded by Orange County businessman, George Namkung after his successful summit on Mt. Kilimanjaro. As an advocate for children’s education, George was saddened by the fact that school children in that part of Tanzania did not receive lunch. In an effort to change that, he started a lunch program and it has grown to provide lunch daily to thousands of elementary school kids. We had the pleasure to attend their gala fundraiser in Newport Beach, CA and provided a silent auction donation to help raise funds for the cause. We salute George and his family for their wonderful work.

Somaly Mam Foundation

The Somaly Mam Foundation is a charity that works tirelessly to end child sex slavery and human trafficking. Somaly Mam, a victim herself, has rescued over 4,000 women and children. The problem is rampant in Southeast Asia and particularly in Cambodia. In addition to rescuing victims as young as 5 years old, the organization helps to train survivors with skill sets to become self sufficient financially and provides emotional therapy to cope with their tragic past. DreamGirls Fine Hair Imports recently hosted the Ray of Hope Fundraiser to benefit the Somaly Mam Foundation on September 26, 2010 at our Los Angeles Salon. Along with donating the venue for the event, we also provided a silent auction item. Somaly Mam is a hero to many and definitely a hero to us.
