The constant problem with women’s hair is frizziness, dryness, and damaged hair prone to breakage.

Specialists say there could be many reasons for your damaged hair, like not enough nutrition, stress, pollution, and not enough caring. Still, we have seen people across the world struggling and trying to maintain and manage their hair’s condition with every other solution they read over the internet or hear from their friends or family members.

From all the methods and ways, deep conditioning is one such method to improve hair health. Deep conditioning treatment can soften your hair and make it shiny and healthy. It provides the essential nutrients and moisture your mane is lacking and repairs them.

What Is Deep-Conditioning?

The process of treating your hair by coating it with nourishing products is called deep conditioning. Regular use of conditioners provides moisture and strength while reducing the damage caused by dryness and lack of nutrition.

How To Deep-Condition Hair?

Step 1: Choose Your Product

The first step is to find a product that suits your specific needs. It depends on your hair type, like straight, curly, wavy, thin, or thick. Multiple products are accessible in the market that claims they will restore your hair’s lost moisture, so please pay attention while choosing one.

It is advised that if your hair has texture, then using a heavy product will suit you, and in case you have straight hair, light-weight products are recommended.

Step 2: Wash Your Hair

Make sure you wash your hair and clean your scalp from dirt and excess oils before deep-conditioning. You can use a shampoo that is good for your hair and does not damage it.

Step 3: Apply Your Deep-Conditioner

Now apply the conditioner to your hair strands and avoid using it too close to the roots. Also, ensure you use a sufficient amount of conditioner on your hair for proper conditioning.

Step 4: Allow Your Product To Set In

Allow the product to rest on your hair for some time, as suggested on the product bottle for deep conditioning. Usually, it varies from 20 to 30 minutes.

Step 5: Use Heat If Required

Some products require external heat to fasten the conditioning and absorption process, and therefore you can use a blow dryer. Please ensure that you use a blow-dryer at a moderate temperature.

Step 6: Rinse With Cool Water

Wash your hair using cold water; it will close your hair cuticles. Leave it dry out naturally.

Dos And Don’ts Of Deep-Conditioning

Let us first discuss the Do’s

  1. Use deep conditioning therapy regularly for better results.
  1. Use steam and heat to speed up the conditioning process.
  1. Make sure you choose the products that are suitable for your hair type.

Now the time is to know the DON’Ts.

  1. Try not to leave it for too long or from the recommended time.
  1. Some of these products may affect your wallet, but we suggest not to focus on the money part and think about how it will change your hair look wise and health-wise.

How Often Should You Deep-Condition Your Hair?

It relies on the condition of your hair and the types of your hair. Deep conditioning helps your hair regain its shine and strength, but over-conditioning can also impact and cause a moisture-protein imbalance. Talk to your hairstylist about managing your hair and how often you should deep-condition your hair.

Deep conditioning twice or thrice in a month is sufficient for women whose mane is fine and straight. Over-conditioning will also make your hair fall flat and challenging to styling.
